Integration Based Stress Removal, IBSR is an eight-phase linear somatic treatment protocol designed to get to the root causation of anxiety, addiction, trauma, illness, loss, depression, unhealthy stress, repetitive patterns, panic, despair, worries, fears, anger and somatoform. The symptomatology is driven by an exaggerated response to perceived or real threat. IBSR removes the exaggerated response. What follows is an observable change in behavior.
This treatment involves
NO contrived movements
IBSR encompasses 8 linear somatic psychology phases. In brief, these 8 phases include body map, somatic processing style, survival brain activation, release, reset of perceived or real threat responses, regulation, review, check in and follow up.
Stress that can lead to trauma is a fact of life. We all experience stress, however not everyone will suffer from stress. Those who suffer with a perceived threat will go into a "freeze or flee" response. Those who suffer from a real threat will experience an exaggerated bodily reaction. Once aroused our survival response needs successful completion. If not completed, our bodies go into a state of immobility to hypermobility. This state may look calm to scared on the outside and be causing a tremendous amount of internal chaos and unrest. Tools that focus on inducing a sense of calm through contrived means can help but do not complete the survival process. IBSR allows for this process to complete and does not use induced relaxation to complete the survival response.
